I'm going to say right out--I'm not a big reader. I don't read much outside of class. I'm terrible, I know.
These are the 106 books most often marked as “unread” by LibraryThing’s users. As in, they sit on the shelf to make you look smart or well-rounded. Bold the ones you’ve read, underline the ones you read for school, italicize the ones you started but didn’t finish.
Here’s the twist: add (*) beside the ones you liked and would (or did) read again or recommend. Even if you read them for school in the first place, and a dash next to books you own but have not read.

I'm sure you guys have seen enough of it by now, but... I'm in.

For those of you who don't already know, there has been a strike scheduled for Friday, March 21st, 2008, during which we hope to have many members of LiveJournal provide LJ with absolutely no content for twenty-four hours. This means no posting and no commenting. If you post elsewhere and have it set up to be posted through a feed on LiveJournal, don't do it. Stay away from LiveJournal for twenty-four hours. That can't be too hard, can it? I know some of you are probably quite active on LiveJournal and will find it hard to stay away for an entire day, just as I will, but this is something that needs to be done, to show the people running LiveJournal that we're watching the changes they are making, that we're paying attention, that we're discontent, and that we want to be heard and taken in to consideration. We are not simply users who can be tossed to the side and ignored. We are the people who make up LiveJournal. Without us, without the content we create, without our words, our voices, our creativity, our participation, there would be no LiveJournal. This is a fact, and it needs to be realized and understood and then taken in to consideration when making decisions regarding the way that LiveJournal is run. The strike is only a few days away, so there isn't all too much time to prepare. While this is unfortunate, it isn't enough to keep this strike from taking place. It will take place, the second it is meant to, and it would be best to have as many people take part as possible. Please, spread the word. Spread it fast. There are only a few days to organize this. If you find that you care about LiveJournal or care about the people you interact with on LiveJournal or simply want it to remain a place where you can entertain yourself without constant censorship and money-hungry practices being thrown in without the consideration of those who use the service, act now. If you don't wish to spread the word, that is fine, but please: refrain from using LiveJournal on Friday, March 21st. Do something else for a change. It's for a good cause. (:
For background on this strike and why it is being held, please read the following posts: http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/394838.html http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/395310.html
To find out exactly when the strike begins and ends, depending on where you are located, please see this: http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/395125.html
What's this about?
* It's about free and ad-free LiveJournal accounts being abolished for new members, ignoring the advice from the newly-formed Advisory Board. * It's about LJ staff trying to sneak this decision in under the radar, and when people found out, telling the users it was done 'to make the signup process less confusing'. * It's about LJ staff failing to apologize for trying to hide the facts from view and for lying about the actual reasons for their actions. * And finally, it's about the latest decision to hide certain user interests from the list of Most Popular Interests, some of them being fanfiction, bisexuality, sex and depression. This decision was not announced or explained in any way. Users found out for themselves.

Comment, and I will pick six of your interests on your user page. You then can post this on your journal with the answers, and spread the love of memeage!
These interests were picked by the LG. ^_~
1. fine cheeses It's no secret that I'm an antivegan. My favorite foods are meats and cheeses. But I must say, while consuming vast quantities of the most basic cheddar can be delicious, I'm rather fond of the finer varieties. Like gouda. My favorite cheese is Alpenjoy, which is like... a smoky sort of gouda, very creamy, with tiny pieces of sausage in it. It's the best of both worlds! ... :has a heart attack:
2. finntroll Ahhhhhh Finntroll. They're a Finnish band but they sing in Swedish to sound more troll-y. I loooove this band. I discovered them like half a year ago when my German linked me to their song Trollhammaren (their most famous song). Now, I liked this song a LOT, but when I poked at a couple of their other songs, I was less than impressed. About a month ago, however, the subject of Finntroll was brought up, and I found myself once more investigating. Now, one of my school friends, Ben, is a hardcore metalhead. He's been subjecting me to rougher music recently. And as I listened to more Finntroll, I thought, "What the hell was I thinking?! These guys ROOOCCKK!" And that's the tale. :B
3. klaus kinski It's hard to explain my fondness for this man. He's a German actor that died in the 90s. The icon for this post is his picture. :B I've only ever seen two of his movies, Aquirre, Der Zorn Gottes (Aguirre, the Wrath of God) and Fitzcarraldo. Both are very extreme and slightly disturbing movies. Kinski is really not a good person. He was a serious asshole. Like, he was asked to play the villain in the second Indiana Jones movie, but he said "as much as I'd like to do a movie with Spielberg, the script is as moronically shitty as so many other flicks of this ilk." Which makes me :C since I love Indy.
4. korpiklaani If you like Finntroll, there's a 95% chance you'll like Korpiklaani. These guys are Finnish too, and sing in both Finnish and (rather poor) English. They're like... a softer and more nature-oriented version Finntroll. I think I like Korpiklaani more, but both are really awesome. Let's see... how did I find Korpiklaani? I know my German introduced me to them. I think he sent me Hunting Song. I was pretty much immediately hooked, since I liked everything I've heard from them pretty much. They used to be called Shaman, but they sorta reinvented their style and became Korpiklaani. Rather different bands. I've heard a couple Shaman songs and I do like. These guys do some bitchin' instrumental songs, too.
5. tyr LG just loves asking about my music! ^_~ Týr is a Viking metal band I, yet again, heard about from the German. (He just has a great taste in music. *_*) He sent Regin Smiður. They're from the Faroe Islands, which are like... halfway between Iceland and Norway. This was a band I didn't get into until a few months after I'd heard Regin Smiður. I mean, I loved the song, and I liked what else I heard, but I just didn't get into it so much. But I think I have their entire discography now (only a couple CDs). And I'm seeing them live in April! SQUEAL!!
6. ∞ This one is kind of hard to explain. Ever since I was young, I've always had a really strong attraction to the ∞ symbol, and I'm not sure why. It stands for infinity and all. But uh, that's pretty much all I can tell you about it. x_X
